Bridge Organizations

American Contract Bridge League http://www.acbl.org - ACBL is the sanctioning organization for bridge in North America.  Members can check their masterpoints and find out about member benefits such as the Bridge Bulletin $$.  Anyone can access the web site to find a teacher in their area or a place to play bridge.  The ACBL website has two knowledge base features: a Bridge Hand of the Week and free downloadable software to Learn to Play Bridge.

Mid-Atlantic Bridge Conference http://www.mabcbridge.org - MABC is made up of District 6 (Virginia, Washington DC and most of Maryland) and District 7 (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and eastern Tennessee) of the ACBL and is responsible for conducting all regional tournaments in both districts and helping to promote all bridge tournaments in the area that it serves.  The MABC website contains valuable information on the organization and MABC area tournaments (reports and schedules), as well as, a knowledge base area with many articles by MABC players.

Bridge Professionals

Better Bridge (Audrey Grant) http://www.betterbridge.com - Better Bridge is the official site of Audrey Grant one of today's foremost bridge teachers.  Audrey includes information on her bridge cruises, workshops (festivals), products, publications (including Audrey's new Better Bridge Magazine), software and videos $$.  Better Bridge includes a knowledge base section Quizzical Pursuits designed to help intermediate players improve their game with quizzes on bidding, play and knowledge of the game.  In addition, Audrey includes a section for bridge teachers with online manuals and aides for teaching her books.

Bridge Base Inc. (Fred Gitelman) http://www.bridgebase.com - Bridge Base, the website of Fred Gitelman, has many outstanding services and features.  Through Bridge Base Online anyone can play bridge online (at no charge) with your own partner or in pick-up games with people from all over the world.  For a small fee you can play in ACBL sanctioned games or take bridge lessons online $$.  One of the most outstanding features is the Online Vugraph where you can kibitz national and international matches.  In addition, Bridge Base offers several knowledge base features including a Deal of the Week written by Gitelman (with an archive of several years of deals) and a library of articles written by Gitelman and others.  Finally, you can purchase online software based on Gitelman's software design from a many of today's top authors such as Marty Bergen, Eddie Kantar and Mike Lawrence $$.

Bridge Clues (Mike Lawrence and Anne Lund) http://www.bridgeclues.com - The Bridge Clues website contributes to the knowledge base by providing daily bridge puzzles giving clues to improving your game.  Each day there are three puzzles: one on bidding and one on play, as well as, one of their Flash Card puzzles.  This site is fun, quick and always informative, but the site has no archive of past puzzles ... it is only for the daily read.  If you have a hand next week and remember Bridge Clues had something on this topic you cannot go back and look it up.  [See Mike Lawrence]

Bridge Today (Matthew and Pamela Granovetter) http://www.bridgetoday.com - Bridge Today  is clearly a commercial venture for the Granovetters.  Bridge Today offers an online magazine $$ and many online courses $$ by the Granovetters and top professionals such as Paul Soloway and Eddie Kantar, but there are some free knowledge based features that make Bridge Today a site to visit.

For beginners there is a free step by step introduction to the basics of bridge with a number of neat interactive features.  They feature young faces like Sharon learning to play bridge.  In addition Bridge Today offers a Daily Quiz on topics like Conventions, Suit Combinations and Opening Leads, but unfortunately the quiz archive is only for members $$.

Mike Lawrence http://www.michaelslawrence.com - This is Mike Lawrence's web page.  It has information on Mike and on his books and software $$.  What makes the web site beneficial are the many articles on everything from partnership understandings to using bidding space to safety plays.  [See Bridge Clues]

Richard Pavlicek http://www.rpbridge.net - This may be the best bridge site ever!  Richard packs so much information into this site that there is something for everyone.  For the new bridge player there is a Learn to Play Bridge section that progresses into Bridge Basics with online lessons and quizzes  In addition under the Pavlicek School of Bridge there are several years of old Old Newsletters, a Bidding Guide,  and Pavlicek's Point Count System.  For the intermediate and advanced bridge player there are Basic Quizzes, Advanced Quizzes, Bridge Puzzles, Bridge Articles, Bidding Challenges, and much much more.  For the bridge expert there are Bridge Calculators, Odds and Theory, Polls and Contests, and still even more.  It is obvious from visiting this site that Richard Pavlicek puts all his love of the game into this site.  If you only bookmark one bridge professional's web site, you should bookmark http://www.rpbridge.net
