Friday Night Bridge Friday, October 17th
In order to avoid conflicts with other regular and special games and to set a date that can be planned for by the Bridge Club and the club members, the Friday Night game will now be run on the 3rd Friday of each month. As usual the party and festivities will start at 6:00 pm with the game starting by 6:30 pm . this early start time is designed to give everyone a chance to play.
Hey man, that is this Friday Friday night, October 17th
This
Friday will be a wine and cheese party. Everyone should bring something that
goes well with wine and cheese like fruits, spreads (I love spreads), fresh
grilled shrimp right off the bar-b-que (ok, that is a little too much) but
this is Oktoberfest month so some worst might be nice
but you get the idea.
I have a variety of reds (including Australian Shiraz), whites and blushes for
the game
if you happen to have an open bottle bring it along but
DO NOT BRING WINE
bring food.
P.S. As a note from last month party featuring Australias Shiraz wine Wine Spectator magazine has an article on Australia's Reds Roll On (click on link).

North American Pairs (NAP)
Dont forget the SC Unit 160 finals for the NAP are this Saturday, October 18th in Columbia. The games will be held at the Tri City Leisure Center the same location as last year. This is a two session event the first session is at 11 AM with the second session in the afternoon a light meal will be provided with entry. Depending on the number of players, stratification A and B will most likely be combined into one event and stratification C will be a separate event. Alan Brooks will be the Tournament Director for this event.
[Directions to the Tri City Leisure Center take I-95 to I-26 and then exit off I-26 to the east towards West Columbia at the exit for US1 - Exit 111. Go about 1/2 mile on US1 and turn right onto Dreher Rd. There is a Blockbuster Video store on the right where you turn. Continue about 1/2 mile on Dreher until you go over some railroad tracks and the Leisure Center is the large modern brick building on the right.]

Bridge Boards
I am in search of all the homeless and tempest-tost bridge boards to combine them together into one fun set of boards and I need your help. I am trying to collect all the miscellaneous boards that people may have cast aside and give them a new home. I have several boards that were left to me by Craig Gibbons, Mary Alice Shenefiel gave me four boards, Doris Caudy was kind enough to let me have a SIX, two 7s and an 8 last week, and I have several boards Dot Lewis, a friend of Maxine and Gordon Ginsburg, in Alexandria, Virginia let me have.
If you have old boards you are not using, I would love to have them for a fun set of boards. The odd and the unusual will only make this set even more fun. If you have any odd boards you are not using, drop me a note at fredferguson@mindspring.com . Thanks.

P.S. from Madeleine Bartoldus
There was a little girl who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good, she was very, very good.
But when she was bad........
She got a fur coat, jewels, a waterfront condo, and a sports car.
