[Editor's Note:  With this edition of my bridge email news, I have converted over to a new DSL line (WOW - high speeeeed) which required me to reconfigure my connection and most importantly, my distribution list. I used to maintain separate lists one for technical and one for news ... I can no longer maintain two lists.  I have tried to merge the list, but with over 160 recipients, I am sure I have made some mistakes.  If you do not wish to receive Hilton Head Bridge News (I need a better name), drop me a note and call me a few names and I will take you off of my distribution list.  Remember Bridge should be fun.  Fred]

Bridge Center Schedule:

The Bridge Center will continue to offer its weekly schedule of 7 sanctioned games a week through Sat. April 12th.   http://www.home.earthlink.net/~hhibridge/schedule.htm

Friday Night, April 4th 6:00 p.m.

Unit Championship Game

Unit games award points at 85% of Sectional rated events

Wednesday’s Game:

After back-to-back Unit Championship and Club Championship games, my game this Wednesday returns to a somewhat normal schedule … if you can call my games normal.  Due to HHIBA’s delay in opening of the new Bridge Club (see Lee Sturm’s open letter below) everyone will have to put up with my game and my emails for at least one more Wednesday.  Although, I do continue to receive nice comments and thank-you notes for promoting bridge on the island.

It looks like now my final Wednesday game will be on Wednesday, April 9th.  After Wednesday, there will only be one more Wednesday game with Hand Records; you should try them … they are great fun.  If you wish to play and need a partner, call or email me, and I will help you secure a partner for the game.

HHIBA Stakeholder Game:

To all HHIBA Members,

Unfortunately, I must announce the rescheduling of the first sanctioned bridge game at the new HHIBA Bridge Club due to construction and permitting delays beyond our control.  The date for the Stakeholder game is now set for April 13th with the same agenda as previously announced.   We will open the doors at 12 noon,  have a grand opening ceremony at 12:30, with the game starting at 1:00 pm.

The HHIBA Board any inconvenience caused by this change.

Lee Sturm, President HHIBA
