Two‑Over‑One "2/1" Game Force:Standard Bridge Bidding for the 21st Century |

Wednesdays 9:30 to 11:30 am - June 2nd thru July 28th
Beginning June 2nd a new intermediate bridge class on Two‑over‑One "2/1" Game Force Bridge – will be taught on Wednesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 am. This class will run for 9 classes beginning Wednesday, June 2nd and ending Wednesday, July 28th and will cost $90.00. The text for this course is the 1st book (Standard) in the series by Max Hardy 'Bridge Bidding for the 21st Century'.
The emphasis of the lessons will be on the bridge style of 2/1 Game Force: played by the more advanced players regionally/nationally. The classes will be taught by Fred Ferguson with guest lectures by many of the area's top players including: Marvin Shatz, Ginny Bednar, Roni Keisler, Ron Perry and Mary Alice Shenefeil. |

Principles of Two‑Over‑One "2/1" Game Forcing guest speaker Marvin Shatz This class will discuss the concepts of 2/1 GF Auctions (vs. Std Am), , explore 2/1 auctions, introduce 1Nt Forcing, and discuss the benefits of slow arrival. (Chapter 4) |

1 No‑Trump Forcing This class will explore responder's bids and 1Nt forcing auctions. (Chapters 5 & 6) |

June 16th |
Hand Evaluation and Opening Bids guest speaker Ron Perry This class will define characteristics of hand evaluation, bidding to show shape, planning for a rebid, and bidding to show values. (Chapters 1 & 2) |

June 23rd |
Raising Partner's Suit guest speaker Ginny Bednar This class will explore the different methods of supporting partner's suit including, Splinters, Jacoby 2Nt, Maximal Doubles and raises by passed responder including Drury.* (Chapter 8) |

June 30th |
Forcing Bids This class will explore forcing bids 2♣, Reverse, Jump-Shift, 4th Suit Forcing and bidding to show values. (Chapters 2 & 3) |

July 7th |
Natural No-Trump Bidding Sequences This class will review Nt bidding sequences and asking and telling bids over Nt including Stayman, Jacoby, Texas, Super Acceptance, New Minor Forcing, Gerber, Minor Suit Stayman, slam bidding. |

July 14th |
Preemptive Bidding guest speaker Roni Keisler This class will review high level opening bids and bidding over high level bids. (Chapter 9). |

July 21st |
Intruding guest speaker Mary Alice Shenefeil This class will include discussions on overcalls, negative doubles, action doubles, support doubles. (Chapter 10 & 11) |

July 28th |
Game and Slam Tries This class will include game tries, RKC (Roman Key Card) Blackwood, Cue Bidding, Jumps to Five of a Major and Grand Slam Force. (Chapter 12) |

* This course will not cover Bergen Raises.
Classes
will be taught by Fred E. Ferguson,
an American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) certified Bronze Life Master, Club Director
and Tournament Assistant. Mr. Ferguson
directs duplicate bridge games for the HHI Bridge Club located in Port Royal
Plaza (843.342.7529); teaches bridge for the SHARE Senior Center and HHI
Recreation Association; and is Editor of the bridge enewsletter
